Is SAFE WA a State Agency or...?

No, SAFE WA isn't a state agency...

SAFE WA is a non-profit parent organization, that works to keep local and regional parent and youth organizations working for a common goal, to improve programs and services provided through both state agencies and service providers.

A good example would be that of a wagon wheel. SAFE WA plays the part of the hub, and other parent and youth organizations are the spokes, which connect from the hub, to the ring that makes contact with the ground. Think of that outer rim as being made up of all the agencies, providers, the Regional Support Networks, and MHD, which provides the contracts and funding to all those agencies.

If one part of the wagon wheel is not working properly, all of the other components of the wheel are impaired, so the wheel doesn't roll, or move forward. The wagon becomes stuck...

So, no SAFE WA is not a state agency, but we work closely with agencies, providers, and organizations to ensure that the needs of parents and their special needs children get met.
