The Career Possible Project aims to empower at-risk young people in pursuing higher education and/or training as a means of breaking on-going cycles of poverty and learned helplessness which can directly affect mental health and over all well-being. As part of the Career Possible Project, network member Youth 'N Action will be touring local colleges and universities over the next few months and participating in short programs geared towards educating at-risk youth on future career options. These programs designed by Youth 'N Action utilizing feedback from youth will include information on scholarships, financial aid, and other special programs that can assist them where they're at by providing information on such obstacles as mental illness, disability, low to non-existent income, homelessness, juvenile justice involvement, etc. Some of the program titles include: "Campus Health Care Services", "Choosing Your Future", "There's Money Out There For you!", and "How to Fill Out College Applications." |
