History

Founded several years ago, SAFE WA became a non-profit, statewide organization in 2004. SAFE WA staff includes Patty King, Executive Director and Dawn Grosz, Parent Coordinator.

SAFE WA is unique! The national trend is for statewide family organizations to be the employer of individuals across the state. With SAFE WA, Network Members are independent parent and youth organizations located in various regions of the state.

Mission statement

Statewide Action for Family Empowerment of Washington (SAFE WA) is the united voice of family organizations whose families have children or youth with complex mental health needs. SAFE WA membership agrees to work together to recruit and mentor families, encouraging collaboration toward mutual goals and organizing networks that will support, educate, and advocate for stronger, healthier families.
